About Us

Welcome to Saint Mary Help of Christians community of faith and excellence.

I believe one of the most important decisions a parent makes is about the education of a child. At St. Mary’s, we value that decision and the trust our parents put in us. Every day we renew our commitment to work hard to educate our students and help them become self-confident, compassionate and committed citizens who will reach their full potential.

Benedictine sisters from the St. Benedicts Monastery in St. Joseph began teaching in the school in St. Augusta in 1886. As a parish school with over 125 years of history in St. Augusta, we are proud of our Catholic traditions and practices. Many of the events and activities in our school community have been with us for years. Some of our students have parents who attended St. Mary’s, and a few even have grandparents who attended! Our faith-filled educators are devoted to the physical, intellectual and spiritual growth of our students. We are blessed with over 120 students, all evolving through a strong value-centered Catholic education.

While our traditions and structure are foundational to our school community, so are twenty-first century educational innovations. We strive to keep up with the educational demands of our student population. Every instructional classroom contains a SMART Board and iPads — invaluable tools for teachers and students. Our Computer Lab and Library are both constantly being upgraded and improved with significant information technology enhancements.

As Principal of St. Mary Help of Christians School, I welcome you! I believe we have something very special at St. Mary Help of Christians School. I hope you will take time to get to know us by contacting our school office with inquiries and talking to friends and parents of our students. We are a devoted community of educators and parents, committed to our tradition of excellence in education.

Yours in Christ,

Kelly Kirks
